Climashield® and Operation Gratitude Invite Fans and Followers to Support the Troops During this Season of Thanksgiving

Using Facebook and Twitter, Americans can help raise $10,000 for sending care packages to men and women serving our country

CLINTON, Tenn. Nov. 12, 2012 – Climashield®, the insulation of choice for the U.S. Military, and Operation Gratitude, the non-profit, volunteer-based organization that sends care packages to troops deployed in harm’s way, launched their second annual social marketing campaign today, enlisting the help of Facebook fans and Twitter followers to give back to men and women protecting the country.

Making it simple to get involved and make a difference, Climashield® makes a donation to Operation Gratitude each time a fan or follower shows their support - for a total donation up-to $10,000. Users simply have to “like” the Climashield®  Facebook page or retweet a Climashield® message on Twitter and $5 is automatically donated. For those who want to give more, Climashield® donates an additional $5 for users who post or tweet a photo with a message of thanks to the troops.

The funds raised during the campaign are placed in the trusted hands of Operation Gratitude where every $15 donation enables them to assemble and ship a care package to a Service Member deployed in harm's way, to his or her child left behind, or to a Veteran, First Responder or Wounded Warrior. Care packages contain food, hygiene products, entertainment items and personal letters of appreciation sending good wishes, love and support.

“At Climashield®, we work to ensure that men and women around the world receive the best protection from mild and extreme cold weather conditions when they are in the field. During the holidays, the sacrifice these soldiers make to protect our country is especially apparent, as they are away from family and friends,” said Matt Schrantz, Chief Operating Officer of Climashield®,. “By joining with a trusted and hard-working organization like Operation Gratitude, we are able to show our support and encourage others to do the same.”

“Tens of thousands of American service members are deployed throughout the world in the Middle East, Afghanistan, and on ships throughout international waters, separated from loved ones for long periods of time,” said Carolyn Blashek, founder of Operation Gratitude. “Our mission is to lift morale, bring a smile to a service member’s face and express to our Armed Forces the appreciation and support of the American people. We would not be able to do our work without the support of patriotic and generous organizations like Climashield®.”

About Operation Gratitude
Operation Gratitude annually sends 100,000+ care packages filled with snacks, entertainment items and personal letters of appreciation addressed to individually named U.S. Service Members deployed in harm's way, to their children left behind, and to Veterans, Emergency First Responders and Wounded Warriors. The organization's mission is to lift morale, bring a smile to a service member's face and express to our Military and their families the appreciation and support of the American people. Each package contains donated product valued at $75-100 and costs the organization $15 to assemble and ship. For safety and security, assembling of packages occurs at the Army National Guard armory in Van Nuys, California. Since its inception in 2003, Operation Gratitude volunteers have shipped more than 870,000 packages to American Military members and their children.
