Climashield® Insulation Offers Cold Weather Solution at IWA Outdoor Classics

Unique durability properties make the product perfect for long-lasting protection in extreme climates and rugged terrain

NUREMBERG, March 7, 2014 – For the first time, Climashield® exhibited its portfolio of insulation products for over 38,000 attendees at IWA Outdoor Classics — the international community’s leading exhibition for outdoor products and high-quality guns. As the preferred insulation for the U.S. military, the veteran brand touts over 30 years of experience in creating customizable products for the extreme requirements of tactical and military applications.

An expert provider of personal protection in frigid climates, Climashield® understands the need to lighten the load when carrying gear on your back. By consistently delivering greater warmth at lighter weights, the signature continuous filament insulation helps customers reduce the overall weight of a sleeping bag, jacket or pair of pants without sacrificing thermal efficiency.

While providing exceptional warmth is always the main priority for insulation, Climashield®’s signature Durable Warmth offers an additional unique advantage over the competition. It ensures that warmth lasts throughout the lifetime of the product no matter how many times the garment is stretched, packed or washed.

“We can tell our customers about our product, but we’d rather challenge them to test it against the competition. That’s how certain we are in the superior performance of our insulation,” said Matt Schrantz, Chief Operating Officer at Climashield®.

Climashield® engineers insulation for sleeping bags, outerwear, gloves, footwear and quilts. Products showcased at IWA include:

  • Helikon Level 7 Winter Jacket  - A leading developer of tactical gear, Helikon designed this jacket with durability in mind. Climashield® APEX insulation is highly compressible and maintains thermal efficiency even after multiple uses.

  • Modular Sleep System (MSS) - On the inside of over one million MSS sleeping bags to date, Climashield® insulation is featured in the intermediate and patrol bag, for use in temperatures ranging from 10°C to -34°C.

  • 3 Season Sleeping Bag (3S) - The 3S is an innovative, terrain-tested sleep solution featuring a sleeping bag with Climashield® insulation and AquaBan™ technology for staying dry in wet and humid conditions. The bag has been tested in the field where temperatures on winter nights can drop below -6°C.

  • Poncho Liner - The multi-purpose Poncho Liner can be used as a blanket, pillow, privacy screen or lightweight sleeping bag to provide warmth in mild temperatures. The incorporation of Climashield® insulation achieved approximately 15 percent more warmth at the same weight.

  • Third Generation Extended Cold Weather Clothing System (GEN III ECWCS) - Featuring the most technically advanced materials and innovative garment design, the GEN III system consists of seven layers, with Climashield® APEX featured in Layer VII for protection against intense cold weather scenarios in excess of -40°C.

IWA Outdoor Classics is held at the Exhibition Centre in Nuremberg from March 7-10, 2014. Climashield® is located in Hall 9, Stand 230.
