Helikon-Tex started out in 1983 as an army surplus retailer. After more than two decades of trading, the company’s owners identified a growing gap in the market. Realizing that many military products were outdated, they stepped up to produce their own state-of-the-art equipment.
The company’s first products were designed to meet the needs of the army, law enforcement and the most demanding outdoor enthusiasts. Today, Helikon-Tex is committed to the highest production standards, sourcing the best materials, and innovation. Thanks to its unbeatable performance, Climashield®’s synthetic insulation is used in a range of Helikon-Tex winter products that include jackets, its innovative Swagman Roll Poncho, and the best-selling Frostbite Hand-Warmer®.
Level 7 Lightweight Winter Jacket
The Level 7 Lightweight Winter Jacket is a tactical hardshell featuring 100g of Climashield® APEX continuous filament insulation, the most thermally-efficient filling on the market. An additional 67g of APEX protects the stow-away helmet-compatible hood. With YKK zippers with wind flap, chin protector and a range of internal and external pockets, this jacket remains a stripped-down, no-frills item designed for high performance in the field. Conforming to the US Extended Cold Weather Clothing System (ECWCS), the Level 7 weighs in at a mere 2 lbs (896 g) and can be stored in the compression bag included with the product.
Husky Tactical Winter Jacket
The Husky Tactical Winter Jacket has all the characteristics of the Level 7 while being more robust and better suited to even lower temperatures. Used by law enforcement officers around the world, the Husky comes in three colors – black, alpha green and coyote – and is the perfect jacket for anyone searching for ultimate warmth and durability in a minimalistic, military-grade design.
Wolfhound Hoodie®
Both the Level 7 and the Husky can be paired with the patented Wolfhound Hoodie®, a softshell built with 67g of Climashield® APEX. Lightweight and packable, the Wolfhound can be used as a standalone jacket in milder conditions, and thanks to its DWR treatment, it can keep the user dry in light rain as it retains all of its insulation qualities even when fully wet. To allow for a full range of motion, the armpits of the Wolfhound are manufactured from a proprietary elastic Helikon-Tex fabric – VersaStretch®.
Frostbite Hand-Warmer®
In harsh weather conditions, protecting the hands is a matter of both comfort and survival. However, when the situation calls for precise use of tools (guns, electronics, etc.), gloves are not always a solution. This problem is solved thanks to the innovative Frostbite Hand-Warmer®, a sleeve which can be worn on a strap around the neck, on a waist belt, or attached to a gun chest-belt. Equipped with heat-trapping lining with long bristles, as well as 67g of Climashield® APEX, the Frostbite Hand-Warmer® doubles as a pouch for a map, documents, or other essentials thanks to its YKK® zipper pockets.
