Founded in 1986, TILAK is a family-owned Czech company rooted in the region’s longstanding textile tradition. Committed to the motto of “Nothing Less Than Top Quality,” TILAK designs and manufactures all its products locally in the Czech Republic, at the base of the scenic Jeseník mountains.
The first TILAK product was made by hand by the company’s founder, climber Roman Kamler, on his household sewing machine. He found inspiration for the brand’s name in the Hindu term tilaka, which refers to a mark, often a red dot, seen on the foreheads of Hindus. For Kamler, it symbolized divine protection—a blessing he wished upon all those venturing into the mountains. Manufacturing the highest quality product became his way to ensure the safety of his fellow climbers and mountaineers.
Today, all TILAK garments are still made in the Czech Republic by the local workforce, with Kamler himself keeping a close eye on the process from start to finish. Meticulous design, top-tier fabrics, and excellent craftsmanship allow TILAK to offer a four-year guarantee on every item leaving its facility. In addition, a lifetime repair service further extends the life of TILAK products, helping reduce waste and saving customers money.

Climashield® x TILAK
The Ketil Jacket and Ketil Pants are TILAK’s flagship products, insulated with Climashield® APEX. The lightweight and packable Ketil hooded jacket is used by the Mountain Rescue Service and comes in both men’s and women’s cuts. It is resistant to abrasion, and doesn’t deteriorate even when compressed for a long time. Like all garments insulated with Climashield® synthetic insulation, the Ketil Jacket offers an unparalleled warmth-to-weight ratio even in wet weather.
The Ketil Pants, sewn from the same Pertex Quantum Air Nylon 40D mini-ripstop outer fabric, feature a raised waist, adjustable suspenders and strategically placed reinforced patches. Full-length openable zippers with top and bottom sliders ensure the comfort of taking the Ketil Pants on and off without the loss of precious body heat and time.
The Svalbard Infinium Jacket is TILAK’s insulated hardshell proposition, unique thanks to the simultaneous use of the GORE-TEX® Infinium membrane and the Apex insulation from Climashield®. Providing unusually high heat-retention properties, the Svalbard Infinium is one jacket capable of performing the job of two. What further sets this model apart from the competition is its uncompromising simplicity, allowing it to keep its weight to just 590g (1.3lbs) in size L.
