Founded in 2015, Hyberg Outdoors is a German brand specializing in ultralight backpacking and thru-hiking equipment. Its design philosophy is rooted in refining long-distance hiking systems: minimizing weight while maintaining efficiency, safety, and performance. All Hyberg gear is conceptualized and produced within the EU, with worldwide online shipping and a brick-and-mortar store located in one of Berlin’s most sought-after residential areas.
Hyberg offers a line of synthetic-insulated quilts powered by continuous filament technology from Climashield, which delivers a balance of warmth, durability, and breathability, combined with excellent resistance to compression and rugged trail use. Featured in a number of Hyberg’s designs, Climashield APEX retains an excellent warmth-to-weight ratio even when damp or fully wet, making it the most reliable choice in unpredictable conditions.
In contrast to the more common mummy sleeping bags, a quilt’s simple cut offers far greater versatility. It adapts easily to a wide range of sleeping setups and changing temperatures, though it is sometimes criticized for its lack of head coverage and heat loss. That’s why all Hyberg’s quilts are designed with an emphasis on thermal efficiency and sealing.
Each Hyberg quilt includes an inward folding bottom collar to create an almost fully enclosed footbox that helps retain warmth and keeps feet comfortable. The closure system features a lightweight 70 mm YKK zipper combined with internal filling to reduce heat loss from drafts. To further improve heat retention, an elastic cord at the top of the quilt allows for it to be sealed nearly as tightly as a traditional sleeping bag.
To create a stable integrated sleep system that minimizes heat loss, all Hyberg quilts can be attached to a sleeping mat with their adjustable 15 mm elastic straps. For extra cold nights, Hyberg also developed lightweight and durable Warm Booties. Filled with Climashield APEX 133, the booties improve recovery and sleep quality ahead of long days of hiking.
Since 2022, Hyberg Outdoors has been represented by ambassador Luuc Pecháčková, a Czech adventurer who began her journey with a solo thru-hike of the Pacific Crest Trail. Supported by Hyberg gear, Luuc is currently hiking the HexaTrek in France, a 1885 mile trail with 460,000 feet of elevation gain that crosses the entire country.
