Today, the Massif® team is proud to present The Seneca Arctic™ ensemble: its first flame-resistant extreme cold weather ensemble designed for complete operability in any arctic environment, with the added benefit of flame-resistant protection.
The hardshell pants and parka are made with PYRAD by GORE-TEX® LABS: a fully flame-resistant, 2-layer hardshell providing unparalleled heat, flame and flash-fire protection, without compromising on breathability. Both water- and windproof, the PYRAD membrane ensures the user’s comfort and safety in the harshest arctic conditions.
Underneath the durable GORE-TEX hardshell hides a layer of fast-drying Climashield® APEX™ synthetic insulation. Featuring the innovative AquaBan® technology, APEX™ keeps the user warm by trapping body heat and allowing for a rapid evacuation of moisture. Lightweight yet exceptionally warm and rugged, this continuous filament insulation retains its properties even when wet, ensuring reliable performance whatever the circumstances.
For an additional layer of flame resistance (FR) and unparalleled comfort, the inner liner of the Seneca Arctic™ set is made with Massif’s proprietary Inversion fabric. Stretchy, fast-drying and antimicrobial, this liner retains both its softness and protective qualities even after multiple wash cycles.
The Seneca Arctic™ Parka features an oversized hood that easily accommodates bulky communications equipment, and its detachable coyote fur ruff offers additional protection against inclement weather. Cut for comfort, the Seneca Parka has articulated elbows, partially tunnelled elasticated cuffs and a multitude of pockets, including an internal “dump” pocket with Velcro® closure.
Created with the same cutting-edge materials, the lower part of the new Massif® FR ensemble is the Seneca Arctic™ Pant. With a bias-cut gusset and articulated knees, it allows for maximum range of motion while keeping the user warm, dry and safe. The ease of don/doff is ensured by full-length side zippers, while Velcro® closure internal gaiters keep the snow at bay. The design is finished with a zippered front opening featuring a storm fly and integrated loops for waistband suspenders.
All fabrics used for the creation of the Arctic™ ensemble pass the stringent ASTM D6413-F2302 performance specification for flame resistance.
